Memorable Moments...
We have all had that moment when we are left astounished, amazed, and/or suprised. A moment when nothing else matters because you have witnessed something so spectacular that it demands all of your attention. It is these memorable pieces of history that stick in our minds for years and years. This is where my question comes in. What makes a performance memorable?
Most of you know I am a hip-hop artist, but I am also a supporter. Often I find myself looking for the awe or wow moment in performances. Does preparation lead to better performances or should one just go up and freelance it? P. Diddy is one of the best performers in my opinion. His performances are filled with excitement and Im not sure if I could stand Biggie's onstage presence if Diddy was not backing him. But what exactly is it. I critize mainstream artists more than independent because they have the financial backing to make a performance memorable with props, dances, and lighting. Independent artists have to find more conventional ways to please the crowd. But what are those ways?
I am smart enough to know that their is always room for improvement and in order to take your music beyond just music one must leave a lasting impression on fans. Performances are a good way to do this. Is lots of energy the way to go? What makes a performance memorable in your mind? What is it that an independent artist like me can do to grab your attention and keep it? Your comments are welcome.

A great performance in my mind doesnt have anything to do with the stage performance or back light or even the back up dancers. If your fans truly support your work they will come and watch any performance or yours even if it was in the most ruin down rural settings.
ReplyDeletelights flashin, lotsa jumpin around to keep ya crowd hype, good hooks to join in on or let the crowd take over for u hahaa, but most important... THANK UR FANS AND KEEP IT SWAGGG STUPIDDD!!! That's all u really need ;^)
ReplyDeletei love it boo!! in my opinion, just do what you gotta do on stage to make is a memorable moment for you...dont worry about if you mess up or stumble and trip....thats a "memorable moment" for you!
ReplyDeleteI feel just do what u best at and if ur really good then u will get peoples attention. dont be boring do some dancing while singing if it calls for that move around dont stay in one spot keep it exciting!! I feel if u just know what u doing then do u keep ur head up and show the people ur skills and u will catch there attention!!!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, your love and appreciation for your fans makes your performance. And from experience of being to a few of your performances you guys give off the best energy! Personally i feed off of energy of other people. So watching you guys perform is a #WIN for me. And we all know a good beat and lyrics that people can relate to can have them bobbin their heads and reciting your lyrics. So dont change what your doing...just keep being you! Keep the lyrics real! The Beats hot! and Keep adding on to your fan base! & Someone is bound to have a memorable moment...
ReplyDeleteoh but one thing....im sure a few of your fans would like if yall ripped your shirts off!! lmao!!!
I feel that people put indies on a pedestal. In my view, a great performance is the artist getting on stage, keeping the wind and energy to make it through the set. They can stand still for all I care, as long as they seem confident and i'm feeling the music and lyrics they have my attention. Many people don't respond to the "PUT UR HANDS UP NOW" statements so you have to use what you have, which is your voice. You can't LISTEN to MOVEMENTS. You come to HEAR the person perform. It's all in your mind.
